Annie Jr

Annie Jr is the latest in a long line of very successful collaborations between ignite, Epping Forest Arts and Roding Valley Community Arts, providing opportunities for children to excel and shine in the performing arts taught by skilled drama practitioners in a relaxed but professional setting.

After acclaimed productions of Fame!, Godspell and a home grown musical called 'Glee Through the Ages' over the last three years, we are now staging our most ambitious project yet pulling together a fresh new young cast to pull off a run of shows of the broadway junior version of the enduring hit 'Annie'.

Auditions will be held on Thursday 19th January between 6:30 and 8:30pm at St. Mary's Church in Loughton, and are open to both boys and girls in school years 4 to 7. Auditions will be relaxed, in groups and last for around 30 minutes as we gauge the acting and singing ability of each candidate. Don't worry - no prior experience is needed and there's no need to learn a song in advance! If you would like your son/daughter to audition, please complete the registration form here and one of our team will be in touch during the week beginning 16th January to confirm what time your child will need to arrive.

Children whose audition is succesful will then need to attend rehearsals each Thursday (term-time), 6:30-8:30pm, up to the performances in late June/early July (dates TBC to cast members by end of January). We ask that each family contributes £60 which will cover the cost of costumes, scripts, venue hire, etc, which can be paid in a lump sum or in installments. ignite also offers subsidised places for those families who would struggle to meet the full cost - please let us know if you would like to access this funding and we  will be able to accomodate your needs.

Children who are not offered a part can join our other drama group called 'Loughton Youth Theatre', who this term are working on devising their own modern version of Shakespeare's Midsummer Nights Dream. No audition is required for this group and the focus is less on song and dance and more on acting and devising work.
